Waiting....impatiently

Here I sit,
beside the phone,
waiting for the man,
to call my home,
with news of job,
and security,
to combat my stress,
and anxiety.
"Will he call?",
the question rings,
he said he would,
but this waiting thing,
Sucks.

There is a Light!

Who ever said pessimism doesn't get you anywhere? I've been in a rotten mood for the last couple days, on account of the unemployment thing, an low and behold, the phone rang today.... and it wasn't bad news! I have an interview at Belden, which will be my second, tommorow at 10am. If I get this job, I may be able to start monday, which means I won't miss a beat, or paycheck, as it may be. That would rock! Pessimism is the way of the future :oP.

Peace,
Shamus

Chicken Little.....

Is it just me or is the sky falling? Seems everytime you hear any news, the glass is half empty. Perhaps its just my mood lately. I think I'm allergic to stupidity.... Anyhow, I'm gonna chance getting in bed. If anyone knows of employment opportunities in Ontario, please post em.
Fallingggggggggggggggggggggggg asleep at the wheel. Will post more, later.

More Recent News

While attending the Shelter Valley Folk Festival, I had the opportunity to play with many fine musicians... a full list is availible at the link to the right. The concerts were well and good, but it was the campfires which were most impressive to me. Picture a crowd of 40-50, 10 of whom are holding varing instruments, all blending there styles and preferences, as each take turns leading songs..... Awesome! Saturday morning, about 1am, as the fires don't start till the days festivities are finished at 11pm, I played 'Daddy Knows' for the circle. I was joined by Magoo, a well known folk performer, playing a mandolin, a bearded man, whos name I have forgotten, playing a guitar, and another gentleman, who's name is Jason, playing a guitarone, or baritone guitar. It was spine-tingling. As I left the fire shortly thereafter, Jason followed me and struck up a conversation. Turns out Jason is the producer and host of a radio program called 'Acoustic Roots' on the public radio station out of Ottawa. He asked me to send him a copy of 'Daddy Knows' so he can play it on his show..... !! I'm very pumped. I will post here as soon as I know when it will be on... should be a month or so.

Second bit of news is a gig alert.... I will be playing at The Human Bean in Cobourg sometime in the next little while, so please keep a watch here for the date.

Other than expecting the world to fall more apart as I sleep today, (I'm on midnights for my last week of employment) nothing else to add.

Goodnight, er day... as it may be,

Folking Awesome

This past weekend, it was my distinct pleasure to be involved with the Shelter Valley Folk Festival. I camped, I listened, I learned , I played, I sang, I ate, I drank, I caroused, I visited, I annoyed, and just generally did what comes natural. My volunteer time was spent as Festival Media Liason..... which was quite cool, and mostly aggravating and frustrating as the media usually is. Quinn spent the weekend at Poppa's... Which was a sigh of relief for MB and I for about 18 seconds.... then the feeling of dread that accompany's losing a limb, or otherwise attached appendage began to sink in. Naw, it really was a good weekend. I had a chance to play on the mainstage of the festival for the volunteer kick off concert on the preceeding Thursday. Nerve racking but awesome all-in-all. Came back to find out that I am being laid off from work at the end of the week.... kind of a downer, but maybe the boot in the pants I need to pursue the path somewhere else. Well, thats an update.... not everything, but I gotta run...

Peace,
Shamus
